CAUTION: Investing in common stocks of publicly-listed companies is a high risk (and high potential reward) activity. Owning investments in individual renewable energy technology companies is for high risk investors only, and medium risk investors should consider green mutual funds, closed-end clean energy funds, alternative energy index funds and other clean energy sector investments. Even then, these funds should be owned as part of a widely diversified portfolio, and always be considered as longer term investments.

Alternative energy stocks and other renewable power investments are a core component of ethical investing portfolios. Electric Bicycles and Electric Scooters

Elmo The Electric Bike and Electric Scooter Guy

This is an excellent blog for electric bicycles. There are not too many around like this. Thanks for making this such an interesting subject. Oh, by the way, Wired Magazine has a great article on hybrid cars this month. (Jan 2008 issue).

God Bless,
Elmo

New solar panels technology: Simply put, 'direct' solar tubes are the most efficient solar technology available. This is based on a 2001 study of all solar technologies by the Department of Trade and Industry. (Now Dept of Business).

Since then solar tubes have evolved further, and now we are proud to showcase the latest in ‘direct’ heat solar tubes, which have improved solar efficiency even further, using only the highest quality components available in the solar industry. This gives the advantage of better performance and peace of mind but with no heat exchange required, this can free up your twin coil (when applicable) for other applications such as under floor heating/bio mass stoves etc.

1. If you have a traditional ‘gravity feed’ system, with a southerly facing roof space, then you home is ideal.
2. If you have a ‘vented’ thermal store with twin/solar coil, then your home is suitable too.
3. If you have a Combi Boiler, then you will need to replace this at the end of it’s life for a condensing boiler with ‘vented’ tank.
4. If you have a ‘high pressure’ system with gauges, then you will need to replace this with a ‘vented’ tank.

Just thought I'd add some info about evacuated tube collectors. There are two types of solar collector commonly used in the UK.

- Direct Flow Solar Collectors
- Heat Pipe Solar Collectors

Both systems usually utilise an evacuated tube. This works in a similar way to your double glazing at home. It forms a vacuum barrier that stops heat transferring away from the collector and it stops the cold air cooling the heated liquid down. While this barrier is an effective heat insulator it allows most of the suns radiation to pass through into the absorber surface of the collector.

Direct flow tubes have water flowing within the evacuated tube. Heat pipe systems have a solvent that evaporates within a tube and transfers the heat to a manifold at the top of the set of tubes.

Great Blog.

WARNING: Investing in common equity of public companies is a high risk, high potential reward activity. Owning investments in individual alternative energy companies is for high risk investors only, and medium risk investors should consider green mutual funds, clean energy funds, renewable power index funds and other sector plays. Even then, these should be owned as part of a widely diversified portfolio. There is a gathering mania for investing in publicly-traded alternative energy companies, similar to the computer, technology, internet and banking / real estate booms of the past two decades. There will be some nasty corrections along the way, and some years from now when they come crashing down en masse, the world will still benefit from all the amazingly advanced clean and efficient energy technology created during the bull run. (Above note re-written March 2009 as my earlier prediction of a market top and a crash in the sector starting in August '09 was hastened by the credit markets collapse and began in August 2008, before the bubble had fully formed. Of all the sectors in the equity markets, clean energy has the best prospects to assume market leadership and public favour; we are bouncing aong the bottom still, and those who have followed our guidance to begin including (in a judiciously blended portfolio of cash, bonds, stocks and yes, um... real estate) green energy investment funds dollar-cost-averaging programs in Winter and Spring of 2009 are well positioned for longterm capital growth.)

Search for renewable energy investing info, find renewable energy investments, clean power mutual funds, wind systems for home, farm, business and cottages, home power generators, photovoltaic solar panels, publicly-listed windpower companies, alternative energy investing, biomass / biofuels research, renewable energy mutual funds, green investments.
